Bachelors Walk, Wicklow town, Co. Wicklow
Bachelors Walk is a very popular part of River Leitrim in Wicklow Town. It starts next to Parnell Bridge and leads upriver for about 50 meters. Before the rework, the place was a simple unattended lawn with overgrown brambles and ivy. The place was mostly visited by homeless.
Our task was to bring back the place to public visitation and under the hood of Tidy Towns Wicklow make the riverbank a popular place to have a sit and enjoy the beautiful view. Our task started by removing theovergrown vegetaton, which was unattended for decades. Then we subcontracted a talented mason to build a long lasting pathway along the river for space to have two benches. As for the plantations: we built 3 distinct flowerbeds along the edge of the riverbank and a row of appletrees. The back wall got some decorative climbers.
The place was finished April, 2019 and since became a popular place to visit by the towns people, to ffed the birds of the river or just have a few quiet moments on the benches.
